The Greene County Democratic Party is hosting a fundraiser this Sunday.

Organizers say the “Spring Into Action” event will include a silent auction and live music from 2-4pm at the Jefferson Community Golf Course Clubhouse. The Greene County Democratic Party says there will be a variety of artwork for the silent auction, including an original oil painting by Chad Elliott, a photograph on canvas from Matt Wetrich, a textile by Jean Van Gilder and a water color design from Susan Smith.

Organizers say the other artwork up for bids includes a signed and dated original illustration by the late Frank Miller, who was a Pulitzer-prize winning cartoonist for the Des Moines Register, paintings from local former art teacher Roger Aegerter, and oil pastels by Hildred Finsom and the late Diane Foster. Brain Duffy has also contributed an illustration that was done for the Raccoon River Valley Trail fundraiser and a limited edition painting by Brain McKelvey.

The non-profit organization points out that live music from “Pullin’ Strings” with Pat Boddy on harp and David Williamson on guitar will be performing. The silent auction will end at 3:45pm. There will be light refreshments served as well.

The Greene County Democratic Party says the proceeds from the fundraiser will support scholarships for graduating high school seniors, sponsoring the Des Moines Isiserettes for this year’s Bell Tower Festival parade and supporting political candidates.
