Robin Brand of Mount Vernon, the former Robin Olhausen of Jefferson, has been named the Character Counts Coach of the Year by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.  Brand is a 1991 Jefferson-Scranton High School graduate and Central College (Pella) grad, who has had an outstanding coaching career in multiple sports, most notably softball. Her 2022 Mount Vernon team won a State title and she’s compiled a 354-162 won/loss record.

A multi-sport athlete while in school in Jefferson, she is the daughter of Roger and Rose Olhausen of Jefferson.

Brand was honored at the Iowa Girls State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines. The six day tournament ends today.

Current Greene County High School senior Becca Anderson was recognized on Friday at the State Basketball Tournament as one of just 23 Iowa high school senior basketball players to receive Academic All-State honors from the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association.
