The Greene County High School boys’ track & field team had its first indoor competition of the season on Monday inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls during the A.D. Dickinson Relays. Coach Chad Morton entered six events in the one class, non-scoring meet.
The highest finish for the Rams was in the 400 meter dash where senior Drew Wolterman placed 17th among 100 runners. Wolterman ran two laps on the 200 meter track in :53.59, which Coach Morton reports is an indoor record for the distance in the years as Greene County. Junior Zack Stalder was 37th in the 60 meter dash in 7.287 seconds in a field of 196 entries. The Ram coach told Raccoon Valley Radio that Stalder’s time was also an indoor Greene County school record. Senior Jaron Jacobs was 26th among 108 long jumpers with a best leap of 19′ 6-1/4″.
The Greene County girls and boys will be indoors Friday afternoon/evening in Ames at the Lied Student Recreation Center on the Iowa State campus. Friday’s action is the Coed Class 2A Indoor State Championships.
