There are only a few days left to submit nomination forms for the June Primary Election.
Greene County Auditor Billie Jo Hoskins says there are two county supervisor districts that will be on the ballot, including District 2 which is currently represented by the Board Chair Dawn Rudolph and District 3 that is currently held by Supervisor Dan Benitz. She points out that other county offices are Attorney, which is Thomas Laehn, who will not seek re-election; Recorder, which is currently Deb McDonald; and Treasurer, with the current position being held by Katlynn Mechaelsen.
Hoskins notes that all of the individuals who want to run for those county offices must get at least 50 signatures to have their names on the Primary Election Ballot. She states that for the supervisor seats, individuals can get the required signatures from anyone within the county, but that person running for the seat must reside in either the second or third district.
Hoskins explains that Iowa House District 47 will also be on the June Primary Ballot and anyone wanting to run for that seat must get at least 50 signatures from people who live in that district. The district consists of Greene and Guthrie Counties, along with the northwestern portion of Dallas County.
Hoskins adds that the potential candidates for the county offices for the June Primary Election must submit their nomination forms to her office by next Friday, March 20th at 5pm. According to the Secretary of State, the June Primary Election is for the two major political parties in Iowa, including Democrats and Republicans, to narrow the field of candidates to one person for each party for the November General Election.
