The 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships are tomorrow and Saturday at the Tyson Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. 2020 Greene County High School graduate Carter Morton of Jefferson will be competing both days in the seven event heptathlon for the University of Northern Iowa. Morton finished fifth a year ago in the heptathlon, earning first team All-American honors, and he enters this weekend with the fourth highest score of the season at 6,054 points.

The athletes will compete on Friday in the 60 meter dash, long jump, shot put, and high jump. The Saturday events are the 60 meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000 meter run. The ESPN family of networks has the TV rights to the Championships and some of the heptathlon events are likely to be televised. Check your local listings.

Morton is the son of Chad and Deb Morton of Jefferson. He’s one of UNI’s most decorated indoor track and field athletes in the Panthers’ long history in the sport.
