It’s just one meet, but the boys and girls track & field squads from Greene County High School saw some promising performances to begin the indoor season. Coach Chad Morton’s boys’ squad and Coach Derek Merk’s girls’ team both were inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls earlier this week for the A.D. Dickinson Relays on the U. of Northern Iowa Campus. The Dickinson Relays are a one class, non-scoring meet with all size of schools competing.
On Monday, senior Drew Wolterman set a Greene County indoor school record in the 400 meter dash in 53.59 seconds, and junior Zack Stalder set a Greene County indoor school record in the 60 meter dash in 7.29 seconds.
The Greene County girls on Tuesday also had some outstanding performances. Coach Merk reports the 4 x 400 meter relay of seniors Kaycee Pittman, Addison Gannon, and Becca Anderson, plus sophomore Hanna Fouch, was thirteenth overall and third among Class 2A schools (similar size to Greene County). Anderson, Pittman, and Gannon teamed with sophomore Ashlynn Ball for the fifth best 4 x 200 relay time by a 2A school, and Anderson had the fourth fastest 60 meter dash time for a 2A athlete.
Greene COunty will have its girls and boys teams inside the Lied Student Recreation Center tomorrow afternoon and evening on the Iowa State U. campus in Ames for the Iowa Association of Track Coaches Indoor Championships. It’s a Coed Meet with the Rams competing in Class 2A starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
