The Warren Cultural Center continues its multiple events for this month.

Tomorrow night at 7pm, Des Moines Irish Session will once again grace the stage at the WCC, just in time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The group has been performing together for over 30 years, with one of their traditions being a Tuesday performance of a seisiún at venues around Des Moines. A seisiún is a gathering of traditional Irish musicians to celebrate their common interest in their music by playing together in informal, relaxed settings. The number of members participating changes for each performance, with the largest groups including nearly 20 individuals. Admission is free for the night, though donations at the door will be welcomed.

Next weekend, the next show in the Warren Cultural Center’s Locals and Legends series will take place. Percussionist Peter Grubisich will use instruments like drums, marimba, and even clay flower pots to perform several different musical pieces. The classical percussion genre that Grubisich performs traces back to the early 20th century, an era that birthed a new generation of artists. The event begins at 7pm March 21st, with tickets available at the door for $25 for adults, and free for students high school aged and younger.
