I-80 From Council Bluffs to Des Moines is Now Closed, Most Roads Impassable

A portion of Interstate-80 is now closed.

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, I-80 from Council Bluffs to Des Moines is officially closed due to the blizzard warning. Stuart Police Department notifies the traveling public that the on and off ramps into Stuart from the Interstate are also being used to stop traffic.

Additionally, the DOT states that all state roads in Greene, Guthrie and Dallas County are impassable. There have been several reports of complete white out conditions and law enforcement is cautioning everyone to stay home and not be on the roadways.

According to the National Weather Service, the Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 7am tomorrow morning. The National Weather Service also states that temperatures could get as low as 30 degrees below zero overnight tonight.
