The Panorama School Board approved the 2026-27 school calendar, and with it, a transition to a four day school week.

Superintendent Kasey Huebner says that they have had information and community surveys on the district’s website for the past three months, gathering the thoughts of residents of the community and families whose children attend school in the district. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio a bit about what will be different with this change

“With this transition, we’ve actually increased those instructional minutes for both reading and math, which are those core curriculum that the state is allowing us to increase time for. This structure also allows us to have strategic intervention, building in time that’s not infused in something else. It’s building an intentional time to make sure that those kids are getting what they need.”

Huebner mentions that the school year will start off with a five day week, and transition to four days in October by dropping Monday from the school week. He adds that this will increase the length of days Tuesday through Friday to make up for that time not being used on Mondays, but that the district is excited for this change.
