
Severe winter weather moved through the area Sunday afternoon into Monday morning.
According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, the lone reported incident came at 5:44pm Sunday, when a Buick Le Sabre driven by 43 year old Troy Jorgensen of Chelsea struck the back of a snow plow clearing the westbound lane of Highway 141, which was driven by 33 year old Alexander Higgins of Jefferson. No injuries were reported, though roughly $5,000 damage to the Buick and $6,000 damage to the plow were recorded. Jorgensen received a citation for failure to maintain control.
According to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, a semi blew over at 4:19pm, blocking a lane of travel on Interstate 80 at mile marker 76, and a property damage accident was reported at the same location at 4:34pm. At 8:43pm, a motorist assist was conducted on Interstate 80 at mile marker 75, where a semi couldn’t get across the bridge. Then at 8:53pm another motorist assist was conducted north of Greenfield for a semi in a ditch.
