Panorama sophomore Emma Walker discusses how much her family’s support means to her in Track and Field.

Walker reveals that she began running four years ago in middle school, and describes that the independence of the sport is nice because she doesn’t feel the pressure of disappointing anyone. She primarily participates in the shot put and discus throwing events. Walker says that the sport of Track and Field has caused her confidence to rise, as well as building up her self esteem. She shares that her family support is critical to her success.

“It means a lot, especially when I need someone to go to after a good throw or a bad throw, or a good race, it means a lot to know that I have someone in the stands waiting for me.”

Coming into the season, Walker notes that she is working on trusting Head Coach Greg Thompson to point her in the right direction. The Panthers are currently on spring break, and will prepare for their second meet of the season in Earlham on March 31st.
