Senior Calista Rodish, who is apart of the Raccoon River Northwest Wrestling Team, was honored with an award by the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association (IWOCA).

Rodish was given the 2026 Class 2A Dan Gable Ms. Wrestler of the Year, beating out Dubuque Hempstead’s Bella Miller and Ridge View’s Tegan Robertson. According to the IWOCA, the awards celebrate athletic performance, plus the character, leadership, and contributions to the sport of wrestling.

During the 2025-26 season, Rodish was ranked first in weight class 140 heading into the state tournament, defeating Carlisle’s Sophie Carney (19-3 technical fall) in the first round, then beat Iowa City Liberty’s Evelyn Eggleston by a 9-0 major decision. In the semifinals, Rodish won over South Tama’s Maylee Rucker in a 9-5 decision, on her way to win her first individual state title against Waverly-Shell Rock’s Makana Miller with a 15-2 major decision.

In addition to Rodish, Raccoon River Northwest, which is a combination of Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Van Meter, Waukee, and Waukee Northwest High Schools, won their second consecutive team championship.
