Spring will officially arrive on Friday and area residents can join the Dallas County Conservation Board for an early morning program.

Outreach Coordinator Jeni Baker says the Spring Equinox Celebration will be held from 6:45-7:45 a.m. on Friday at Hanging Rock, 416 Redfield Street, in Redfield.

She invites community members to join DCCB naturalists at the astronomical clock atop the ridge at Hanging Rock to observe and celebrate the sunset of Spring Equinox. Baker details that this is a time of equal light and dark, walking from Winter and the renewal of Spring. 

She encourages residents to consider an intentional gesture of this historic site to recognize the changing of the seasons as people have done for thousands of years.

The program is free and no registration is required.
