With the 2025-26 season done for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Boys Basketball Team, Head Coach Trevor Mickelson expresses his gratitude towards his upperclassmen prior to graduation.
ADM had six seniors apart of this year’s group, including Hudson Lorensen, Hudson Shull, Trey Bryte, Hayden Dohlman, Reece Strittmatter, and Joshua Randol. Mickelson says that each one of them brought a different element to the Tigers team, from Lorensen’s scoring ability, Shull’s defensive presence, Bryte’s passing skills, Dohlman’s resiliency after battling back from an injury last season, and Randol’s patience and readiness. Mickelson points out that Randol never groaned about not getting as much playing time as the others.
“The growth that he’s had from his freshman year to this year is tremendous. And I hope he looks back on his experience and feels like it was one of the best decisions that he made was to stick basketball out for the final four years. We were so happy that he was apart of our team. Guys got along with him, and so I hope that this is a memory that he’s able to take away and have a real positive experience.”
Mickelson explains that the six seniors were all eighth-graders when he became the head coach for ADM, and it has been such a joy getting to know all of them. The Tigers concluded the season with a 24-3 overall record, and lost 43-39 to Ballard in the Class 3A Championship game at the Iowa High School Athletic Association State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines this past Friday.
