Paton-Churdan and Greene County have activities sharing agreements for several sports including bowling. Sophomore Jared Dawson is a P-C student who was a varsity bowler for the Rams this season. In only his second year in the sport, he not only made the varsity, but bowled for Greene County in the Class 1A State Tournament last month in Waterloo.
Annie Smith is the Principal and Activities Director for the Rockets and she talked about Dawson. “We had so much fun cheering him on throughout the year and then wishing him good luck at State. That was fun for our kids to see. That’s new really for everybody on the high school sports level in just the last three years, so we had a lot of fun with that, and introducing high school bowling to the underclassmen. Jared did a great job!”
Dawson averaged a little more than 190 pins per game this season with a high game of 267. The 267 game tied him for the seventh highest individual score in the Heart of the Raccoon Bowling Conference.
