District 12 Senator Amy Sinclair

The Iowa Senate discussed a bill related to the Department of Natural Resources.

Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair says that Senate File 2317 is in regards to fur trapping licenses. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio more about the bill.

“It is eliminating the fee being established by rules that are adopted through the Department of Natural Resources and just makes a $5 flat fee plus any processing fees that the DNR might need for that lifetime fur harvester. There’s already a lifetime fur harvester license that you can get and this just takes away, if you will, the ability for the DNR to raise that license price without some input by the legislature, (and) establishes it at $5 rather than by rule.”

Sinclair mentions that the bill has not been a super controversial one, meaning there wasn’t much floor debate. She adds that this will keep the fee from increasing too much over time.
