Mustangs boys basketball sophomore Chase Perrin was recognized as 3rd team all-state in class 4A by the Iowa Print Writers Association, the only sophomore on any level of all-state.
Chase had a year to remember for DCG basketball, setting and breaking multiple school records. He set the mark to beat for three pointers made in a single season with 66 in just 20 games. He missed two contests due to illness. The previous mark was 58, set by Kyle Cason one season ago. On December 12, 2025, Perrin set the single-game three-point record by making eight against the Newton Cardinals. He then broke his own record later in the year at home against Indianola, knocking down nine triples.
He was selected to the third team all-state in class 4A, the only sophomore to be selected, and one of two underclassmen chosen by the IPWA. The other is freshman Roman Henry from Sioux City West. Perrin shot 54% from the field, 51% from beyond the arc, and 87% from the free-throw line. He was the Mustangs’ leading scorer with 340 total points, 80 more than Luke Lorenzen, who was second on the team.
Chase Perrin had a great season, and as just a sophomore, his ceiling and overall potential can not be measured. He has a chance to go down as one of the best players in program history.
