As the US war with Iran is continuing into its third week, one federal lawmaker believes the US strategy has been a success.
Iowa’s Third Congressional District Representative Zach Nunn says Iran has had lots of embedded infiltration in the US and other countries for over four decades and last year’s Operation Midnight Hammer eviscerated Iran’s immediate nuclear capabilities, and this year’s Operation Epic Fury is being looked at as a way to further prevent Iran from recaliberating its nuclear program. He talks about other opportunities that the Middle East conflict is trying to reduce Iran’s power globally.
“This is an ability for us to not only cut off Iran’s funding for terrorism that they lead through the IRGC, the Iranian Revolution Guards Corp, and their Cuts Force, their overseas operation, but we’ve also cut off financing and weapons that go to place like Hamas, Hezbollah, the Huthee rebels, the three biggest terrorist groups in Iran have now been eviscerated.”
Congressman Nunn points out that Russia’s ties to Iran have also been severed from Iran selling weapons and stopping Iran’s ability to continue to sell oil to Chinda through its shipping routes. He notes that the US military has also destroyed Iran’s missile and drone fleet by 90 percent. Nunn shares his thoughts after the US military killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenel and what should be the US goal with the war with the Middle Eastern country.
“But ultimately it’s up to the Iranian people to determine their future. I do not believe that the United States needs to be involved in that level of regime change that’s over the Iranian people. But we do need to eliminate Iran’s ability to harm the United States, to harm our forces in the region and never should we allow them to have a nuclear weapon to hold the world as a hostage.”
There is no clear timeline of when the war is anticipated to come to an end.
