The last of three indoor track & field meets for Greene County and the first for Paton-Churdan was Saturday in Storm Lake. Buena Vista University hosted 10 teams for its second day of high school meets.

The meet marked the season debut for 2025 Class 1A State Champion high jumper Trevon Keely from Paton-Churdan. A leg injury prevented him from earlier indoor action, but he cleared every height he attempted and won the competition at six feet, two inches. The P-C boys also won the 60 meter dash when junior Blaise Schilling was clocked in 7.19 seconds, and he doubled up by winning the 200 meter title in :23.20.

The highest place for the P-C girls was third from freshman Isabella Rice in 11.04 seconds, and the third place 60 meter shuttle hurdle relay in :45.78 with sophomore Holly Miller, and freshmen Maddie Mobley, Kallie Fisher, and Rice.

Greene County won eight events on Saturday with six on the girls’ side and two on the boys. Junior Jaron Jacobs won the boys’ long jump at 20′ 3″, just one inch ahead of P-C’s Schilling, while senior Lila Osterson won the long jump for girls at 15′ 3″. Osterson also claimed the high jump by clearing the bar at 4′ 8″, and Anderson won the 60 meter dash in 8.10 seconds. Junior Brennan Jacobs won the boys’ 400 meter dash in :57.03.

The Rams won the girls’ 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:52.86 with sophomore Ashlynn Ball and seniors Becca Anderson, Addison Gannon, and Kaycee Pittman, and the 4 x 400 in 4:25.50 with Pittman, Ball, Gannon, and Anderson. The Rams were first in 4:28.97 in the distance (1,600 meters) medley relay with an all senior lineup of Gannon, Osterson, Anderson, and Pittman.

There were 10 teams participating at BVU on Saturday. The Rams go to the Simpson College High School Classic in Indianola this Tuesday for the outdoor season opener. It’s a 14 team coed meet with teams in addition to the Rams from Indianola, Atlantic, Carlisle, Centerville, Dallas Center-Grimes, Gilbert, Joshua Christian Academy (Des Moines), Knoxville, Norwalk, Urbandale, Valley (West Des Moines), Wayne Community (Corydon), and West Marshall (State Center).
