
The filing deadline for the Greene County seats that are going to be on the ballot for the June Primary Election have been announced.
According to the Greene County Auditor’s Office, there are no contested races for the two major political parties in the county. County Auditor Billie Jo Hoskins says for the Republican Party, there is one person for each of the two Board of Supervisors seats with incumbent Dawn Rudolph representing District 2 and with current Supervisor Dan Benitz not seeking re-election in District 3, James Hedges will be on the June Primary ballot.
Hoskins notes the other Republican candidates that are also not contested in June includes incumbent Katlynn Mechaelsen for County Treasurer and via a 28E agreement that was recently approved by the Supervisors, Benjamin Smith is running for County Attorney. He is also currently the Sac and Calhoun County Attorney. Current Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn is not seeking re-election as he is a Libertarian candidate for US Senate. Hoskins adds that no Republican candidate is listed for County Recorder.
As for the Democratic Party, Hoskins says only Deb McDonald is running on that ticket as she is seeking re-election as County Recorder.
Additionally in Greene County, there is a contested Republican Primary for Iowa House District 47 which includes incumbent Carter Nordman from Dallas Center against challenger Jeremy King of Panora, as well as the Democratic Party with Chris New from Dallas Center and Charley Newman of Guthrie Center.
The Primary Election will be held on June 2nd.
