This past Friday, former FBI Director Robert Mueller passed away and one US Senator from Iowa comments about his service.
Senator Chuck Grassley says Mueller was a decorated US Marine who also earned a Purple Heart and was the second longest serving FBI Director in the country’s history. He points out that Mueller had a really nice career and shares his thoughts after President Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social account, “Good. I’m glad he’s dead” in reference to the passing of Mueller.
“When people die you should show respect for those who have been good citizens of the United States. I would reserve my statements like that for somebody like Adolf Hitler in 1945, etc., etc.”
Grassley details one area where he thought was one of the biggest microscopes under which Mueller’s career was shaded was when he was appointed as special counsel for the 2016 elections and the alleged Russian interference with President Trump that drew opposite opinions.
“I’ve shown through my investigations that that’s not true and the Mueller investigation said that there was no evidence of it but he did not exonerate Trump. And that’s the shortcoming of that investigation and I think that role as special counsel is the only black mark on what’s otherwise an outstanding government service.”
Robert Mueller died on Friday at the age of 81.
