Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has a reminder for 4-H and Clover Kids members.
Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that thanks to the Adair County Cattlemen, ear tags for beef exhibit animals are free for those looking to show them at the Adair County Fair. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there’s something else exhibitors can pick up, depending on what they’re showing.
“There is no cost for exhibitors. So come see us if you’re planning on showing a bucket/bottle calf, either Clover Kids or 4-H and get your tags from us. Clover Kid bottle lamb and goat tags are also available. These are $4 a tag. And when you pick up your tags for either bottle animals, so the calf, lamb or goat, you will receive a voucher for a 25 pound bag of milk replacer.”
Savage mentions that this voucher has been a long standing tradition, and is available to the children thanks to the sponsorship of the Adair County Farm Bureau office. She adds that swine tags will be available starting April 1st.
