With the boys track season now in full swing as the Perry Bluejays await their first official meet of the season, head coach Jason Lutterman reflected on the tough transition that freshmen go through when jumping from middle school to high school sports.

“Its such a huge jump. We’ve seen the past kids that are super successful middle school, and it really doesn’t translate when they get the high school. You really, really have to work, especially in 3A. Everyone’s working, all season long, all year long and putting in the work every single day. So for the Freshman, I tell them, ‘this is different than what you experienced last year and the year before, but we’ll keep working and move forward. We’ll build on every day from here on out.'”

The Perry Bluejays track team await their season opener on Monday, traveling to Bondurant-Farrar High School for the Bondurant COED Meet. The action is set to begin at 4:15pm.
