With Easter coming up, there are a few favorite holiday activities happening across Greene County.

The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department and the Jefferson Kiwanis Club are co-sponsoring the annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday. According to JPRD, the free event will take place outside at the Greene County Community Center with different age groups, from toddlers to third graders, separated around the facility. Registration begins at 3:30pm and the hunt starts at 4pm. Pre-registration is requested, but not required. Contact the community center at 515-386-3412 to sign up.

There is also a Rippey Easter Egg Hunt happening on Saturday with the hunt to begin at 10am at the Rippey Community Center for young children to enjoy, followed by a meal at 10:30am. Organizers say the meal is a breakfast bowl and there is going to be a silent auction and bake sale as well.

There’s also an Easter Egg Hunt that is for the dogs. The People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is hosting an event at 1pm at the Rotary Centennial Dog Park, next to the Community Animal Shelter on Saturday. Organizers say that there will be plastic eggs that contain dog treats and the canine that finds the golden egg will win a grand prize. The entry fee is $5 and the proceeds will go back to the PAWS for the care of the animals at the shelter.

There are two additional egg hunts happening next Saturday in Greene County as well.

Abundant Life Ministries is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at 11am next Saturday, which will be for newborns to 11 year olds. According to the organization, there will also be free train rides, along with free hotdogs, chips and drinks while supplies last, and giveaways for those that enter.

Finally, the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue will host an egg hunt next Saturday. Terry Hoefle, with the fire and rescue unit, says children ages one to nine years old are to meet at the city park for registrations at 12:30pm and the hunt begins at 1pm. He points out that there will be separate areas for different age groups to find eggs.
