The DCG girls’ track and field team was in Johnston at the home of the Dragons yesterday for the Johnston Quad Meet. They performed well in the windy conditions, including one first-place prize.

In the 4x800m, the team consisting of Tenley Heidgerken, Leighton Stanford, Julia Mora, and Addison Dooley cruised to first with a time of 10:08.05, one full second ahead of Waukee. In the 800m Medley event, a different team featuring Madden Seeman, Meredith Opoku-Sekere, Khloe Crawford, and Heidi Johnson raced well to sneak into the top five at fifth. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay was the final relay event the Mustangs placed in. Caelyn Short, Ashtyn Vaughn, Kadin Schlenker, and Macey Rohrbeck sped their way to bronze just two seconds behind the Warriors, who took first.

In the field, Maddie Messerly was fourth in the high jump, and Sydnee Keller was fourth in the long jump. The girls will be in action next in five days at the Northwest Invitational.
