A reminder that a portion of property taxes are coming due at the end of this month.
Greene County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen tells Raccoon Valley Radio the second half of property taxes are due on March 31st, by the end of the workday. She says those who haven’t mailed their tax statements yet, she is finding that postmarking them is having delays. She prefers individuals to either hand them in-person to her temporary office on the first floor of the Greene County Courthouse or use the drop box on the east side of the courthouse.
Mechaelsen points out that there is a late penalty of 1.5 percent that is assessed on the parcel on the first of every month or on the first Monday of the month if the last day of the previous month falls on a weekend.
Mechaelsen adds her office accepts a variety of ways for property taxes to be paid, including cash, checks, credit/debit cards, via the drop box on the east side of the courthouse, paid over the phone, or online by clicking here.
