The Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce brought out the big scissors for the first ribbon cutting of the year on Friday.

Trish Radke, president of the Good Samaritan Food Pantry Board, says the ribbon was cut to celebrate the organization’s new van. She adds that food pantry volunteers use a van to bring in fresh food and shelf stable items from grocery and convenience on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Radke details that the van was in an accident last fall and while no one was hurt, the food pantry has been without a vehicle. She thanks the businesses who helped sponsor the new van.

“It is a very essential part of our mission and so local businesses came together and donated for us to get a new van. We have it wrapped with all of their logos, which really shows the spirit of the community and how generous our community really is.”

Those sponsors include Lincoln Savings Bank, Fuller Petroleum, Farm Bureau Financial Services and Dallas County Farm Bureau, Panora Fiber and Minburn Communications.

Radke appreciates everyone who came out for Friday’s ribbon cutting ceremony.

“We have a really great community of supporters for the many things that we do and today just really shows how much everybody is really onboard with this mission and feeding our friends and neighbors is a really important thing. And I think that with all of the volunteers, the businesses, everybody that was here today, I think that really is a testament to that work.”

Tours of Good Samaritan Food Pantry were held following the ceremony.
