Now that spring is officially here, Adel and Perry residents will soon be able to have their yard waste picked up regularly, starting next week.
The City of Adel has announced that the first day of yard waste pickup will be on Tuesday. The city reminds residents that yard waste is collected on Tuesdays from April through November and must be placed on the curb by 7 a.m.
Small amounts can be placed in a brown paper grocery bag, cardboard box or a trash can clearly marked “yard waste.” Securely bundled brush (no longer than four feet and less than 50 pounds) may be placed on the curb for collection. These bundles must be secured with biodegradable material such as twine or cotton string.
The City of Perry’s yard waste collection will start on Wednesday on the south side of Willis Avenue. It will continue through December 9, alternating from the south to north side of Willis Avenue each week.
The city reminds residents that all yard waste except tree, bush or brush materials are to be placed in biodegradable paper bags with a maximum weight of 40 pounds. All tree, bush and brush materials are to be bundled and tied in maximum lengths of four feet with a maximum weight of 40 pounds and set near the street curb in front of the residence during the yard waste disposal dates for collection and disposal by the city.
The yard waste should be placed near the street curb in front of the residence by 7 a.m. to assure pick-up.
Other items can be dropped off at the City of Perry’s Yard Waste Disposal Site, 14325 Ivy Place, which will remain open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily throughout the year.
The yard waste collection schedule and disposal site rules can be found on the city’s website.
