Greene County returns all but three players from the 2025 boys’ soccer team that went 7-4-1 and continued the string of posting winning seasons ever since the sport began here in 2018. There was no 2020 season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Carter Hinote is one of the returning seniors and he talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about expectations for the 2026 Rams. “I think expectations are very high. I think we got really disappointed last year when we lost in the first round (of the Class 2A postseason). I think our expectation this year is to go to State and I think we have every bit of capabilities to do that.”
The Rams scrimmage in Denison today, then open the regular season on Monday in Des Moines vs. Grand View Christian at the James W. Cownie Soccer Complex. The Rams go to Boone on Tuesday to face the Toreadors in a 5:30 p.m. varsity match with one JV half to follow the varsity action. The Rams host Central Iowa United (West Marshall) on April 2 as part of a girl/boy doubleheader at Linduska Field in Jefferson to conclude a busy first week of the season.
