
The filing period recently ended for candidates looking to be elected for Dallas County offices in the June Primary Election.
Dallas County has eight seats open for election, including Districts 1-5 on the Board of Supervisors, the County Attorney, Recorder and Treasurer.
Dallas County residents will be voting for additional candidates as the Board of Supervisors is expanding from three to five members. Voters will use the new redistricting map, which was approved by the county in January, during the primary and general elections.
According to the Dallas County Auditor’s Office, there are four contested supervisor races for the two political parties in the primary election. The races include Republicans Robert Greenway and Sumit Ashvin Patel in District 1, Democrats Patricia Tice and Michael Kern in District 3, Republicans Lance Farrell and Marsha Bannister in District 4 and Republicans Dave Roszak and Oliver Bardwell in District 5.
Republican Julia Helm is running unopposed in District 2. Other candidates running unopposed in their party include Democrat Jason Benell in District 1, Republican incumbent Kim Chapman in District 3, Democrat Ben Nizzi in District 4 and Democrat Julie Bautista in District 5.
There are no contested races for the County Attorney, Treasurer and Recorder, with Matt Schultz, Summer Portzen and ReNae Arnold running for those respective positions.
The Primary Election will be held on June 2.
