Two popular areas of interest for Greene County youth open tomorrow for registration.
Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says the Summer Camps have different age levels for youth in kindergarten through 12th grade. Hardaway describes some of the themes include robotics, culinary, computer science, a moon planetary with ISU, and some lego camps, among others.
As for the Project Workshops, Hardaway explains that those are for 4-H’ers in 4th through 12th grades, with the idea of getting that category prepped for this year’s Greene County Fair in July.
She details who will be the point person for the Summer Camps, as well as the Summer Assistant, who is primarily responsible for assisting with the county fair.
“We’re excited to announce, our Summer Program Coordinator returning this year will be Bailey Anderson. She led our camps last year and we’re excited to have her back. And then our Summer Assistant this year will be Allison Fields. She is a local person coming back this year. She graduated last year and has been up at Iowa Central (Community College) on the rodeo team, as well as getting ready to join their radiology technology program. She has experience working with kids. But, when she was in 4-H, she was super involved in the horse project, but just involved in the Greene County Fair in general.”
Hardaway adds that registrations for both the Summer Camps and Project Workshops open tomorrow at 10am and the only way to sign up for either is to email her at hardaway@iastate.edu. She urges everyone to check their email or the Greene County Iowa 4-H Facebook page for more details and what those programs will be.
