
Both Guthrie and Dallas Counties saw thunderstorms roll through Monday night.
According to the National Weather Service, Guthrie County was under a severe thunderstorm warning at 8:44 p.m. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team was live on air at 8:50 p.m. Dallas County was roped into the severe thunderstorm warning at 9:20 p.m.
While the warning in Guthrie County was allowed to expire at 10 p.m., the National Weather Service extended the Dallas County warning to 11 p.m. Though the severe threat moved out of Raccoon Valley Radio’s coverage area around 10:20 p.m.
A second round of thunderstorms moved through Guthrie and Dallas Counties as the National Weather Service issued a new warning and the Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team was live on air again at 10:57 p.m.
The storms moved out of Guthrie County around 11:19 p.m. and the National Weather Service canceled the severe warning for Dallas County early at 11:25 p.m.
According to the Dallas Center and Minburn Fire Departments, the main hazards included pea to dime sized hail, along with lightning and up to 40 miles per hour wind gusts.
There were three members from the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team, along with Weatherology. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team provides live coverage of severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings for Dallas, Guthrie, and Greene counties until the storms move out of the coverage area or drop below severe levels.
