Mustangs boys tennis begins a new campaign today, traveling to Urbandale to take on the Jayhawks.
Last year, DCG had an average year by their standards, with just a 7-10 overall record, even though they were above .500 in conference at 4-2. In the 2025 playoffs, the team came in 5th in the conference meets, then proceeded to come up short in the first round of substate against tennis juggernaut, Waukee Northwest.
The group lost just one senior in Ky Wilkens, so this year’s squad is primed for a big push towards the postseason come the middle of May. This team has the experience to make a run for the championships, as 5 of the 16 athletes on the roster are seniors who have a lot of matches under their belt. With head coach Leslie Shipp at the helm, this team is set to do big things in the Little Hawkeye Conference in 2026.
