A rental housing project that is still underway will have another open house event tomorrow in Jefferson.
Chris Deal is the lead developer of The Jeffersonian, which is turning a former three-story school building into 25 apartments along Iowa Highway 4, and invites the public to a self-guided tour of their progress.

Deal tells Raccoon Valley Radio the first floor includes nine units that range from one bedroom and one bathroom to three bedrooms and two bathroom layouts. He notes that crews are virtually done with the drywall and most of the first floor units have flooring installed. Deal points out that the second floor also has most of the drywalling done and is moving to installing some other fixtures, while the third floor is getting drywall installed.

Deal states that the second floor features 14 foot ceilings with roughly ten foot windows, and the third floor units are 17 feet ceilings with 13 foot windows. He details that the windows are historically accurate when the building was originally built in the 1920s.
He is happy with the progress and encourages people to check out the project firsthand. Since it is a self-guided tour, Deal says people will be around to answer questions and direct where to go on Friday from 4:30-6:30pm. Those interested in attending must enter through the east side doors along South Vine Street. He is hoping to have the project completed later this year and there will be some information about the units as well as leasing options.
