The US Supreme Court heard oral arguments concerning birthright citizenship in the country.

Sources say President Donald Trump signed an executive order to no longer allow children that are born in the US from undocumented or temporary visa parents, as a way to adhere to his administration’s immigration agenda. A lawsuit was brought to the high court to consider on Wednesday.

US Senator Chuck Grassley has mixed thoughts on the topic. He says people who have lived in the country for a very long time and who have children that are born here are US citizens, which he believes is not a constitutional issue. However, Grassley thinks the key component that the Supreme Court is looking at is under the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution, where anyone who is born in the US and is subject of the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of that state and the country.

“I have no opinion on that because I’ve read the Constitution for the last 70 years, along the lines of what I just said. I’m just going to accept the Court’s decision.”

Sources say the Supreme Court is anticipated to make their decision on this case in June.
