The Dallas County Health Department will celebrate National Public Health Week by hosting a free Naloxone training this week.
Community Health Educator Natalie Del Vecchio says National Public Health Week will be observed from Monday through Sunday. She adds that the health department will kick off the week with a free hands-on CPR and AED training on Tuesday at the Perry Public Library.
While registration is full, those interested can sign up for the waitlist to be notified when additional trainings are scheduled.
Del Vecchio says the department will wrap up the week with Opioid Overdose Education and Naloxone Training at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Dallas County Administration Building, 800 Court Street, in Adel.
She explains that the session will help attendees understand what opioids are and how they impact physical functioning, misuse consequences, what Narcan is and how to obtain and administer it properly.
Del Vecchio adds that the free event does not require registration.
