A Boone woman was recently arrested in connection with a string of alleged burglaries in Greene County.

According to court documents, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people who allegedly were involved in breaking into and stealing cigarettes and alcohol from the Casey’s General Store in Scranton and Sparky’s One Stop gas station in Rippey from December 17, 2025. Court documents show that three people were seen from video surveillance of the businesses exiting a vehicle, while a fourth person, who appeared to be the driver, stayed in the vehicle.

The criminal complaint states that on December 24th, the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office about 54 packs of cigarettes that were found in a vehicle, while they were investigating a separate burglary that took place at a Guthrie County business. Court documents show that the cigarettes were consistent with the items that were stolen from Casey’s in Scranton.

The affidavit states that on March 2nd, one of the individuals from the two Greene County burglaries that were previously arrested, told law enforcement that Tanya Helmrichs was one of the people that helped burglarize the two stores and afterwards, the stolen items were split up at another person’s home in Jamaica, which those statements were then corroborated.

An arrest warrant was issued on March 10th charging Helmrichs with two Class D Felonies for second degree criminal mischief, two Class D Felonies for second degree theft, a Class D Felony for third degree burglary and an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree attempted burglary. Helmrichs was then arrested in Guthrie County on April 6th and she was booked into the Greene County Jail under a $27,000 cash or surety bond.
