A fifth suspect was recently arrested from a large operation of burglaries that included two businesses in Greene County.

According to court documents, Casey’s General Store in Scranton and Sparky’s One Stop gas station in Rippey were allegedly broken into and cigarettes and alcohol were stolen from on December 17, 2025, resulting in $4,000 of damage to the structures and over $1,200 of stolen items.

Since then, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office has arrested four suspects, with the fifth individual getting arrested earlier this week. Court documents show that 45-year-old Anthony Owens of Jamaica allegedly held the stolen items from the two businesses in Greene County at his home, where the items were split up among the four other individuals involved in the incidents. Court documents state that comments from some of the other suspects were corroborated for Owen’s involvement.

Owens was charged with four Class D Felonies for two counts of second degree criminal mischief, along with third degree burglary and second degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor for attempted third degree burglary and a serious misdemeanor for fourth degree theft. He was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams says law enforcement from at least six other Iowa counties, and neighboring states have reached out with connections to the suspects of similar crimes in their locations. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
