The Panorama School Board met in regular session for April on Monday.
Superintendent Kasey Huebner says that as always, they started things off with their good news segment. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the first topic they covered during that was that their graduation numbers have been going up in recent years, and shares how much they’ve improved.
“We’re sitting at a 98 percent graduation rate, which is really, really good. The state average is sitting at 88 percent. So well above the average there. (The) last three years we’ve been working, really to go from 94 percent to 98 percent. And that’s a pretty big jump there the last three years. So our staff work hard to make sure kids are getting their diplomas.”
Huebner mentions that they also had a team compete at the Conference Academic Bowl, and that the senior class took their trip to Chicago. He adds that they also discussed some other topics like the elementary roof replacement project, upcoming dates and a few other things.
The Board then approved a school budget resolution, the elementary school building roof contract, and non-certified contracts. They also approved schedule B contracts, an agreement with Western Iowa Technical Community College, and the purchase of a secondary water heater. Final action items on the agenda that were approved was a 28E Agreement with Heartland Area Education Agency for a media specialist, and a dishwasher for the elementary building.
