Conditions were cold and windy Friday afternoon into the early evening for the Greene County and Carroll High boys’ golf teams. The Rams lost the boys match 172-180 in Jefferson at Jefferson Community Golf Course.
Boys’ coach Kyle Kinne told Raccoon Valley Radio his team was not focused in the cold and windy conditions, and added it was the worst round for everyone for awhile. Sophomore Keaton Hinote and senior Drew Wolterman had nine hole rounds of 43 and senior Carter Hinote shot 47.
Activities Director Dave Wright reports the boys’ golf tournament scheduled to be hosted by the Rams today has been postponed due to cold weather. A makeup date is being sought.
The girls played at The Hill on Thursday when they hosted three other teams. Gilbert shot 166 for nine holes with Des Moines Christian at 170, 208 for the Rams, and Perry at 222. Medalist was Gilbert’s Ava Lorbach at 36 and DMC’s Alyx Swafford was the runner-up at 38. The Rams were led by Taylor Johnston’s 49, followed by 52 by Calleigh Fitzpatrick, 53 by Lila Osterson, and 54 from Alivia Cornell. All four are seniors.
