
The Annual Ram Relays track and field meet is today at Linduska Field in Jefferson with six boys’ teams and eight teams of girls scheduled to take part. Greene County is set to host girls and boys squads from Perry, ACGC, Boone, East Sac County, and Carroll High, plus girls’ teams from Webster City and Woodward-Granger.
Individual champions at this meet receive a t-shirt and have their picture taken. The Ram Relays also names certain events after past State Champions who competed at Jefferson, Jefferson-Scranton, or Scranton high schools. Those events include the boys’ 4 x 200 meter relay named after the 1930 Jefferson State Champion and National Runner–up in the 880 yard relay, the Joe Rogers 100 meter dash, the Bruce Mac Donald 200 meter dash, and the Brent Mac Lagan 400 meter low hurdles. The boys’ 3,200 meter run is named after Chase Flack. Girls’ events named after State Champions include the Megan Durbin high jump, the Kris Curnyn discus throw, the Rosemary Holden Hoyt 800 meter run, and the Allison Drewry 100 meter dash.
Field events at today’s meet start at 4:30 p.m. with running events beginning at 5 o’clock.
There’s also Greene County girls and boys golf scheduled today in Des Moines at the Terrace Hills Course hosted by Grand View Christian.
