2020 Greene County High School graduate Tyler Miller has agreed to join the NFL’s Denver Broncos as a free agent. Raccoon Valley Radio received the information early Saturday evening via text from Mark Miller, Tyler’s father. Miller, the former first team All-State player for the Greene County Rams, spent the past six seasons in the Iowa State University football program. A starting offensive tackle for the past several years has been listed consistently at six-feet, nine inches tall, and 335 lbs. He earned third team All-Big 12 honors following the 2025 season.
NFL players from Greene County aren’t common, but Miller isn’t the first 1986 Scranton High School graduate Bryce Paup was named the 1995 NFL Defensive Player of the Year while playing for the Buffalo Bills. He started his pro career with Green Bay after the linebacker starred at the University of Northern Iowa. Paup also played for Jacksonville and Minnesota before ending his playing days.
The late Jim Doran grew up near Beaver and became an All-American at Iowa State before playing the majority of his NFL career as a receiver/defensive back with the Detroit Lions, winning a pair of NFL Championships in the process in the early 1950’s. Doran spent decades farming in Greene County near Paton.
