2020 Greene County High School graduate Carter Morton has established himself at one of NCAA Division I’s top heptathletes and decathletes in the country. Morton did not take part in the Drake Relays decathlon, but he did compete in two Elite events, the high jump on Friday night and the long jump Saturday afternoon. The sixth year senior at the University of Northern Iowa has collected some white flags in his career for winning Drake Relays events and he added another to the collection when he won the long jump. Morter went a personal best 25 feet, four inches to best six other collegians. Morton went 6′ 10-3/4″ to place sixth in the high jump.
Greene County’s lone event that qualified for the Drake Relays was the 4 x 100 meter relay for boys. Jaron Jacobs, Lincoln Schwander, Aden Bardole, and Zack Stalder covered the Blue Oval in 43.95 seconds, good for 71st place among 96 qualifiers. The quartet qualified 81st fastest, so they moved up 10 spots while breaking 44 seconds for the second time this season. Bardole is a senior and the others are juniors.
