
The West Central Valley Soccer Teams played Des Moines Christian on Tuesday, as both squads suffered their first defeats of the year with the girls losing 6-0 in Stuart, and the boys fell 3-0 in Des Moines.
The Wildcat girls came into the match at 7-0-1, fresh off a 1-1 tie with Van Meter on Monday. Des Moines Christian and West Central Valley did not allow each other to score in the first half, leading to a 0-0 mark at the break. However, the Lions were able to find success in the net six times in the second half to roll to a 6-0 victory and give the Wildcats their first loss, now sitting 7-1-1.
For the boys, West Central Valley was 8-0 prior to the game, picking up an exciting 2-1 win against Van Meter on Monday. On Tuesday, Des Moines Christian scored one goal in the first half to lead 1-0 at the break. The Lions tallied two more goals in the second half to record the 3-0 shutout, giving the Wildcats their first defeat of the season, and now sits at 8-1. Wildcat sophomore goalie Mason Fortney recorded 10 saves in the game.
The West Central Valley girls will host Panorama tomorrow in Stuart at 5:30pm, while the boys will head west to Council Bluffs tomorrow to take on St. Albert at 7pm.
