For the first time this season the Greene County High School girls soccer team scored a goal and held a lead. It’s progress even though Grand View Christian (Des Moines) was a 5-1 winner on Thursday at Linduska Field in Jefferson in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action. The Rams are now 0-9 while the Thunder have a record of 4-4-1.

Coach Wes Anderson’s Rams got on the board first when sophomore Faith Jaimes-Diaz scored the first goal this season for the Rams with just three minutes, 49 seconds gone off the clock. The Thunder answered quickly with two goals just over two minutes after the Rams found the net. The Thunder led 2-1 at intermission, then socred three more times in the second half. Brooka Pena scored three goals for GVC with single goals by Hinley Weitzel and Lilly Naeve.
