A Perry man recently pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of attempted murder.

Court documents show that Jordan Davontay Todd pleaded guilty to a Class C Felony for willful injury – causing serious injury and a Class D Felony for domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury.

Court records show that he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the Class C Felony and five years for the Class D Felony, to be served consecutively.

The charges stemmed from an incident in August 2025. An investigation from the Perry Police Department showed that a verbal argument turned physical as Todd allegedly placed his hands around the victim’s neck and that the victim feared for their life. Todd also resisted arrest and officers sustained several injuries.

As per the plea agreement, the remaining charges were dismissed. Those included willful injury – causing bodily injury, harassment in the first degree, two counts of child endangerment, two counts of interference with official acts – bodily injury and contempt – violation of no contact/protective order.

Todd was also charged with two Class D Felonies of attempted burglary 2nd degree and criminal mischief 2nd degree, two aggravated misdemeanors of harassment 1st degree and an aggravated misdemeanor of child endangerment from a July 2025 incident. Those charges were dismissed in lieu of pleading guilty to the amended attempted murder charge.
