Today is the final day for a fundraiser with the Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County.
According to Thomas Jefferson Gardens Board member Alexis Stevens, the Plant Sale is from 10am-1pm today with 12-inch baskets and planters that have a variety of geraniums, petunias, verbenas and other colorful flowers. She points out that these are ready to be hung up and are hardy plants that are low-maintenance or just needing to be watered regularly.
Stevens states that all of the plants were grown from their greenhouse when they were plugs. She notes that having the greenhouse to raise their own items to sell for a fundraiser began as a gift from David Ecklund and he continues to provide donations that keeps the facility operating and allows for educational horticulture classes for children. She adds that it takes a large budget and more volunteers to keep the gardens blooming all summer.
The plants are $25 each while supplies last. The proceeds will be used for continuing maintenance and operations of the gardens.
