County Road P28/Wagon Road has reopened after a temporary closure started earlier this week.
Guthrie County Supervisor Maggie Armstrong shares that crews were able to stabilize a section of road south of Nation’s Bridge Park, and that through traffic can once again drive on that section. She adds that there is extra rock across the highway for the time being, so it is advised for drivers to use extra caution on the uneven surface. Armstrong explains that while crews were doing patch work last month, the defect in this area was observed. Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern tells Raccoon Valley Radio that defects in the sub-grade of a road like what was found are rare, but that from time to time they do occur. Armstrong also mentions that the full rehabilitation project was slated to begin May 18th, but that the contractor had to delay the start, so the county is waiting on a confirmed start date. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring more information as it becomes official.
