A musical ensemble continues to be nominated for prestigious awards for their talent and skill.

The Weary Ramblers, with singer/songwriter and guitarist Chad Elliott of Jefferson, along with Kathryn Severing-Fox on fiddle, are finalists for three categories from the International Singer Songwriter Association Incorporated (ISSA). Those categories are Band of the Year, Band Single of the Year with “Memphis, You & Me,” along with Vocal Duo of the Year.

Elliott talks about their second album, “Driftwood” and what kind of music it has going throughout each song.

“We have all of these songs that go along with it from the road. This ‘Driftwood’ theme is like kind of an idea of this traveling thing that we do and sometimes we feel like a couple pieces of driftwood floating down a river just hitting different banks, like ‘Oh, this is a story right here. We’ll write a song about this.’ Thematically it’s got a lot of different places throughout the country.”

Most recently, the duo was also nominated for a few awards with the Midwest Country Music Organization for Entertainer of the Year and Acoustic Act of the Year.

The award ceremony for the ISSA is August 22nd.
