National Police Week began Sunday and continues through Saturday, and one organization wants to show all law enforcement how much they appreciate their work.

Guthrie Center Chaplains member Steve Goodenough says that they are holding their annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Ceremony tomorrow. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that all law enforcement offices in Guthrie County are invited to attend the event should they be able to. The Guthrie Center Chaplains will have Iowa Senate President Amy Sinclair as a special guest speaker, and will also have representatives from the offices of US Senator Chuck Grassley, US Congressman for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District Zach Nunn, and US Congresswoman for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District Ashley Hinson who will be in attendance to read letters of appreciation from their respective politicians.

Goodenough mentions that there will also be letters of appreciation from Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and State Attorney Brenna Bird. He adds that the event will begin at 3pm at the Guthrie County Freedom Rock in Guthrie Center across from the Guthrie County Fairgrounds. The event is open to the public, and those wishing to attend can bring a lawn chair with them if they would like to sit, and in the case of rain the event will move to the First Christian Church.
